I have been listening to a lot of Country music lately, and It really makes me miss my family. I was planning on taking a trip down (north) to see them sometime next month, and I plan on telling them that I want to go into law, specifically the kind of law involving copyrights (both digital and traditional), that should make them even more happy. If you guys somehow find this blog online, I love you all very much, and look forward to spending as much time with you as i can.

Sleep among other things.
It is something everybody needs to do. It is so nice. Because of my class load this semester I have to work less than have had to the past 2 years. And let me tell you, when I don't have homework, my bed feels SO good to just cuddle up in and fall quietly asleep. Even though I really don't have the most comfortable mattress in the world, I can always just decide to take a quick nap without any trouble.
As a college student, I really probably don't get as much sleep as i should, nor as much as i would like, but it is always a good feeling at the end of a long, hard day to lay your head down upon that pillow and just release the cares and worries for the day.
Today was a very nice day outside, It was mildly warm, with a tinge of a cool breeze. As i sat in my Visual Language of the Moving Image class (READ: how to make movies not suck) we have been watching the movie "Driving Miss Daisy" with Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman, and it really made me sad. I miss the more "simple" times. That is not to say that the times were all that simple, because we all know the injustices that were abundant in those days, such as the question of equality among the races (when we know that there is only one TRUE race; the human race.)But just the whole being able to take time for the simple things, such as shelling peas.
When i was a kid, my grandmother used to spend the early fall season canning peas, okra, and other various fresh-picked vegetables from Rodger's Farm, where we had generally spent the day picking those things that we planned to put away for the season. Shucking corn was such a delight as a kid, and when i worked as produce in Publix, I took pride in being able to help people shuck their own corn and giving them advice upon the flavors of the different kinds. If i could take a time machine back, I think i would move to the mid-50s. It was after the great depression, and before Vietnam (our first REAL pointless war.)
Well, ill save the rest of this for another day. I am off to go watch The Office on TV. I think it is going to be a good episode.
(more on the fallacy of TV later)

College and "living your life."
Let me start out by saying that I love college, and just about everything that it entails. I drink, party, study, hang out, etc... Its a package deal in my opinion.
However, I am getting tired of having everyone use the excuse of "living their life" to explain all of the irresponsible things that they do. Everyone loves to have fun, but 20 years down the road, do you want to explain to your 17 year old daughter why she shouldn't be going to parties and getting so drunk that she cant remember her own name? Or being so sleazy that half of the Greek system knows where they can get a free lay for the night?
I know that I want people to see me as a role-model, and that might not be for everyone, but seriously folks, lets take a bit of responsibility for our actions sometimes!
When I go out on a date with a woman, I treat her how I expect someone to treat my little sister. Is it really that hard to ask? And ladies, when you dress like a slut, talk like a sailor, and drink like a German, don't expect to be treated like a lady. You will be lucky to get a second date.
Wow, another rant. I'll have something nice to say tomorrow, I promise.

Bienvenidos a UU.EE.
So as a degree requirement to graduate, I am forced to take ANOTHER foreign language. Apparently 2 years of sign language does NOT count, so I decided, hey, might as well take Spanish.
What a horrible decision! It is constantly an uphill battle over the remarkably stupid conjugations, or the verb usage, or a combination of the two. That, and apparently If you haven't already had Spanish in high school, you are already behind? If that doesn't get to you, in Orlando, and some parts of Miami, all signs must be written in both English AND Spanish. This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Not the United States of Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, and Columbia. I think you get my drift.
Working at the local Target, I have come to find out that people will walk up to you, start speaking in a language other than our supposed native tongue..... Im not just talking immigrants from other countries, im talking KIDS here. I had some little dude come up to me the other day, blabbering in Spanish, i cant understand half of it, and he gets all pissy when im all like, "QUE??" Basically what i am trying to say here is that i am all too tired of being at a disadvantage when it comes to interpersonal communication in a country of English speaking people, because the only language that i am fully versed in is English, which is of Germanic origins to begin with.
Alright, enough ranting.

Chilly.
So it is really cool outside this morning, and I have to admit that this really brings up wonderful feelings! I was born in the winter, and from what I can tell, that means that It is the best time of the year.
I was sitting on the bus, when Baba O'Reily by The Who started playing on my Ipod, and it got me thinking about our current situation as a society, when i realized how in-touch they still are with our generation. I think that we are becoming closer to our parent's generation than ever before. With the blogging movement, and social networking, we have become one big family again.
Sometimes i really wonder though, what are we all looking for in life? I read a great horiscope today that really hit home, and i guess that is the reason why today is such a great day.
More soon.
